Shiplap Fireplace Wall with a White Oak Hearth

Shiplap wall, white oak hearth, hidden cabling

Location: Greenville, SC

The problem. A blank fireplace wall with a television mounted on a bracket and cables running down the drywall in a plastic channel.

What we did.

  • Framed and ran shiplap the full height of the chase
  • Built a custom white oak hearth and mantel
  • Ran power and low-voltage inside the wall to a recess behind the screen
  • Kept correct clearances around the firebox throughout
  • Finished and sealed the oak to match the room's existing wood tones

The result. One of our favourite projects. The cables are gone and the room finally has a focal point.
