Storm Doors and Entry Door Replacement

Squaring an older opening for a new door

Location: Greenville, SC

The problem. A front door that stuck in summer, showed daylight along the strike side, and a storm door that had never closed square.

What we did.

  • Checked the opening for square before ordering anything — it was not, which changed the approach
  • Shimmed and reset the jamb rather than forcing a new slab into a racked frame
  • Installed the new entry door with a full weatherstrip and sweep
  • Hung the storm door to the corrected opening
  • Adjusted the closer and verified the latch engaged cleanly through a full swing

The result. No daylight, no sticking, and a noticeable difference in the entry's draft over the following winter.
