Coffered Ceiling Installation

Layout, beams and trim in one room

Location: Greenville, SC
The problem. A large room with high ceilings and nothing drawing the eye upward. The owners wanted architecture, not decoration.
What we did.
- Laid out the grid to the room rather than to a standard spacing, so the coffers landed symmetrically
- Built and hung the beams, scribed to a ceiling that was not perfectly flat
- Added crown detail at every intersection
- Primed, filled and painted to a finish-carpentry standard
The result. Trim carpentry changes a room more than paint ever will. This one took a few days and completely reset the space.
